About the event

The Ancient Technology Centre will be host to a Viking and Anglo Saxon village of re-enactors for this weekend. Find out what crafts and skills Anglo Saxons and Vikings had as well as what they ate for dinner. Plus the opportunity to watch the combat display and participate in the kiddie-Vike battle against the warriors! (Under 10s only).

The site will be packed full of re-enactment groups and Living History displays, have a go activities for all ages and abilities (included in entrance fee), replica historic handling objects, historic craft demonstrations, hot BBQ food, teas, coffees and scrummy cakes for a fee and replica historic items for sale in our shop.

A timetable of Live entertainment in our Earthouse throughout the day and site tours of our replica buildings led by our award-winning volunteers.

Come and talk to some of our craft tutors about participating in a heritage craft course day or find out about how to book a Viking Night in our Longhall.

Opening times: Saturday 27th July 2024 10am-4pm Sunday 28th July 2024 10am-4pm

Park in Cranborne Middle School car park. Entrance fee adults £10, children £5, under 4's free. No dogs please.

The event will be held around the site and in our buildings, as such be prepared for the Dorset weather conditions and we suggest wearing suitable footwear for walking outside. Our centre is available for hire and we welcome bookings school group visitors of all ages and abilities. See our website for more details of how to plan your visit. Please note the Ancient Technology Centre is only open to public on Open Weekends such as this event
