Back in September, we took part in Ulfhedinn’s first Ringwood Carnival and came first in the evening procession, being awarded a £50 prize. As we’re not able to accept monetary prizes, we donated the amount on to another cause.

Events like the carnival remind us how important community spirit is. With the Yule season upon us, we wanted to take a moment to highlight the vital role that food banks and community fridges play in supporting our communities.

Join us for a special evening of delicious feasts, mythical tales and clashing steel before spending the night in our Viking Longhouse.

Upon arrival you will be given a tour of the Ancient Technology Centre before playing some historical games to break the ice and meet your fellow guests.
Members of the Vikings reenactment group will be on hand to showcase life a thousand years ago, with a chance to handle weapons and armour as well as see the kit they would take to a feast.

As the evening draws in you will be led inside the Longhouse, for a three-course meal cooked with Craig Brooks, the Saxon Forager and author of Eat Like a Viking. In between courses Craig will be on hand to talk to the guests about each dish, their inspiration, and the evidence available to us on Viking food and drink. Craig will also be on site butchering and preparing some of the food, so for those who arrive closer to 4pm may get a chance to watch and ask questions.

In the morning, from 10.00am, a Fun Fair will be held in the Square. As well as a carousel and boat swings there will be face-painting, live music and other attractions

This year the Parade will start at 2.00pm from Eaton's (formerly Cobham's) car park in Brook Road and will proceed into the Town via Leigh Road and Rodways Corner as it has normally done in the past.

The Parade will then enter the Town via Park Lane, East Street, King Street and West Street and into the Town Square at around 3.00pm. It will proceed along the High Street and back on to King Street where the floats will disembark.

As usual, Father Christmas will stop at the Museum of East Dorset where he will remain with his sack of presents. Children will be welcome to visit him there and receive a (free) small gift.

Step back in time at Hever Castle during the August bank holiday weekend. Immerse yourself in different periods of history with encampments and re-enactments from the Middle Ages to as recent as 20th Century. Get up close to weaponry and suits of armour and try them on for size.

Watch and enjoy the battle displays and demonstrations in arenas within the grounds.
Plus, falconry displays will be taking place and the Knights of Royal England will be returning to battle it out at the annual Jousting Tournament.
