A Night at the Viking Longhall

About the event
Join us for a special evening of delicious feasts, mythical tales and clashing steel before spending the night in our Viking Longhouse.We have limited spaces for this unique event.
2nd August 2025 5:30pm (arrival from 4pm) - 3rd August 2025 10am
Upon arrival you will be given a tour of the Ancient Technology Centre before playing some historical games to break the ice and meet your fellow guests.
Members of the Vikings reenactment group will be on hand to showcase life a thousand years ago, with a chance to handle weapons and armour as well as see the kit they would take to a feast.
As the evening draws in you will be led inside the Longhouse, for a three-course meal cooked with Craig Brooks, the Saxon Forager and author of Eat Like a Viking. In between courses Craig will be on hand to talk to the guests about each dish, their inspiration, and the evidence available to us on Viking food and drink. Craig will also be on site butchering and preparing some of the food, so for those who arrive closer to 4pm may get a chance to watch and ask questions.
Following the sound of clashing steel, our guests will be treated to a weapons talk and combat display by our visiting Vikings before settling down around the fire for tales of Norse Gods, heroes, and villains with Storyteller Lizzy Bryant.As the embers burn low, guests can enjoy some social time around the fire before settling into their bed of sheepskins (or a duvet if you’re inclined to bring one!) for the evening.
When the morning comes there will be a light breakfast and a chance to explore the site once more time before leaving with fond memories, new friendships, and the smell of woodsmoke on your clothes! This event is for adults, and as such we require participants to be 18+
When: Saturday 2nd of August, arrival from 4pm onwards, for a 5.30PM start. Leaving by 10AM the following morning.
Where: The Ancient Technology Centre
What you need to bring: Sleeping bag, pillow, roll mat or camp bed, overnight kit.
Please let us know of any dietary requirements and allergies you have well in advance of attendance. We will be providing both meat and vegetarian dishes. We do not provide alcohol so if you would like some, we ask that you only bring a sensible amount (Mead encouraged!)
